Hi Jeff,
I have tried to intalled HP-UX 9.05 to 'native' Seagate, but it can not going to be a boot drive. But if I install HP-UX 9.05 to Seagate with HP FW, it no problem. How to make 'native' Seagate as a boot drive?

I beleive that only an HP SE can do that. That is not something that they provide to the customers.

Hi Ismanto,

I agree with Ken. The only way I've seen this done is by the CEs. I'm not even sure you can apply HP firmware to a "native" Seagate. I think it has to come from HP with HP firmware on it already to apply any upgrades.
What will you be using the drive for?
If it's not going to be a boot drive, you can probably use it w/o the HP FW. It's really only necessary for proper bootstrapping.

Rgds,
Jeff

Hi (again) Ismanto,

If it's going to be a boot drive, then you have a problem. The HP firmware is almost mandatory in this situation.

I guess you can call your local HP office & inquire as to whether they would (or even could) try to load the FW on that drive. But I suspect they'll decline even if they can. You can imagine they would rather you buy the disk from them.

Sorry I can't solve your dilemna or have any better news for you.

Rgds,
Jeff
