This is a useful site however all I have is the model numbers eg BF03665223. I have a range of numbers which I need to identify the spec of the drives (remotely) using these numbers.

Thanks !!

I am using HP management agents to identify the spec and particuly the speed of the disks (10k, 15k etc).

How can I tell this from the model number, servers are DL380 G2 with external hotplug drives.

What is the model number?

One option may be to go here and put in the model number and see what it comes back with. often the description has the drive speed in it:

http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main

-Josh

BF03665223 = 36gb 15k ultra3 scsi drive
BD036635C5 - 36gb 10k ultra3 scsi drive

I looked on google to find this, but it took a little digging. If you post the model numbers I can probably find out what the specs are. look at this page for a start:

http://www.treiber.de/treiber/geraete/Compaq-11.asp

-Josh

I found them here:

http://www.compaq.co.jp/support/customer_advisories/cats031003_01.html

unfortunately, I could not find an english version of the site. what i gathered from this site is that the second letter determines the speed of the drive. D = 10k, F = 15k. I know that the next few (5?) numbers are the drive size, and I imagine that the last few characters are some sort of firmware or other identifier.

-Josh
