I have recently installed a second hand Compaq ST15150N SCSI Drive in my PIII 550 running Win98 SE, it is connected to a Adapted AHA2920 SCSI Controller.

The hard drive shows up in the Device Manager, but has not been assigned a drive letter and therefore cannot be accessed.

Does this device need any command line switches to activate it or is there something else that I need to do?

TIA

Daniel

First - odds are the drive is set to wait for the controller to tell it to spin up. Check in the Adaptec controller's BIOS setup for the option to configure that (better to let the controller handle that for the power supply's sake).

Then, you may need to partition this drive as I have no way to know what type of configuration it was in originally.
