Do you sure that you plug the data cable in correct way? Need to check again. Many error like this cause by plug wrong the cable direction :):)
If everything is correct, not sure but the cable may be damage.
It is very easy to test it. You can test the data cable and the FDD with another PC and it is the fastes way to know which is the cause.

Goodluck!
HoangChiCong

On my HP t770, there is no floppy drive (A:), so I took an old pc to get one, including 17-pin connection cable. On the system board there is a connector, named floppy, but mounting this hardware does not make it work.
I also connected the 4-pin power cable.

-There is no light switched on on the floppy drive.
-No new hardware is recognized
-No extra drive is available

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add a floppy drive to my system? If so, how?

Modelname: t770.nl
Productnumber: PN167AA-ABH
System card
Fabrikant card: ASUSTek Computer INC.
Card: Salmon
Card version: 1.03
Serialnumber card: MB-1234567890
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm)64 3200+,2.210GHz
Current speed: 2.21 GHz
L2-cache-volume: 512 KB
BIOS: Phoenix Techn.,LTD, 3.02,AWARD-42302e31

if you are able to enter the bios "Del" on start you might be able to turn ON the switches for the floppy or more if needed.

its a good place to start

Thanks for the tip to modify startup -bios- settings. However it did not help me to solve the problem.
I also notice that the changed setting does not stay. On next startup I need to change it again.

Does anyone have a suggestion?
