topic Hard drive not available in Disk

I'm trying to repair a proliant 2500 w/ Smart-2p 1785 slot 6 drive controller revB 4.44 with one 4.3 gig Compaq hard drive after some high school students tried to "improve" it by f-disking it so they could install windows 98. Now when it starts up there is no disk drive although the array controller sees it. Is there a startup driver disk (downloadable) available or is there something else I can do to get this thing operational?
This server is in a high school classroom and was donated to the school without any documentation or software disks.
By the way, I think they originally had Windows 95 on this machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need to re-install the OS . Contact an Authorized Compaq Reseller to obtain a SmartStart CD . Boot to the CD run the Erase Utility and then the System Configuration Utility and the Array Configuration Utility .

Manually re-install the OS .
