RP5470 disk upgrade A9761A

Hi all,

This might seem like a dumb question but I cant seem to get a proper answer from anyone not even local HP support.

I need to upgrade the above named server to 2 HDD's. The HP configurator provided the following:

A9761A 73GB 15K HotPlug Ultra320 disk

The problem is that they are not very cheap and I have the possibility to purchase another solution that is 73GB 15K HotPlug Ultra320 just that its not from HP. Will this "other" distributors hardware work?

We have no way of knowing if another vendor's equipment will work with HP equipment - we have enough work testing and certifying our own parts, let along eveyone else's!!! There is just not enough time to do all that testing. (I'm assuming that you want these to be internal drives, not in an external drive shelf)

So, 3rd party parts are the 3rd party's responsibility to ensure that they work. Only they can warranty the parts.

Also, just so you are aware - putting 3rd party parts into your HP server may void the warranty.

That said, in all likelyhood, they'll work just fine - there's nothing particularly special about HP drives... drives are pretty much drives. Just be sure you buy name-brand (like Seagate) drives. You want high quality.

Optionaly you can ask on your HP sales person if the disks exist in renew

A9761AR (or another partno)

Or you can try a broker
