Shalom Doris,

It would seem that the drive should be compatible. However you need certainty.

http://partsurfer.hp.com
http://docs.hp.com

You need to make sure the drive is the same scsi type and has a compatible connector. You don't want to stick a LVD scsi drive in an SE slot. That would read to poor results.

SEP

Does anyone know if ST316475LC Seagate disk drive is supported on a N4000. These are what we have in our K580 and want to put them to use. Nominal height is 1.62" on them. On that note, I checked the Seagates on our other N4000s and the internal drives in the I have checked are 1” drives: ST318404LC, ST318203LC, ST336704LC, ST336752LC.
So just wondering.

It's an LVD drive, but I'd still consider it a bit old for any current workloads.

Hi Doris,

you talk about a ST136475LC, right?
(swapped numbers 1 and 3)

This drive was used in K-Classes as HVD fast/wide drive (converted from LVD).

It is too high (1,6"), too slow in rpm and seek time.

The other drives you mentioned are only 1" and 10k rpm.

My conclusion: This drive is physically too big, too slow and not supported with your N-Class - don't use it.

I agree with Torsten. Due mainly to the size restrictions just for starters, it's not going to work because it won't even fit. Used drives for an N4000 are really inexpensive, and I wouldn't bother messing with the hardware mount area modifications to even try.
