topic HP handling of returned drives? in Disk

Does anyone have documentation or a link stating how HP handles bad server hard drives that are returned to them? We periodically have faulty SCSI drives from which we cannot wipe data. When returned to the vendor for repair/ replacement, what does HP do to protect our data from getting out, either rebuilt or in the trash? Thanks..

Hi, it's stated on this page:

http://h40059.www4.hp.com/warranty/support/tc.php

HP fully understands the concerns raised by customers with regards to the security of any data which may be contained on a hard disk being sent for repair. HP's procedures for handling these items start by acknowledging that all such disks may contain sensitive business or technological information and that all appropriate security is in place to safeguard that information.

The repair of the item in no way depends on HP's ability to read any user data contained on the disk.
During the testing/repair cycle, the disks will have a destructive pattern written onto them that will erase all previously held user data.
If the media is damaged, it is removed and scrapped.

If you want to retaing disk drives (like some gubernamental or military customers), you can purchase a special support contract here:

http://www.hp.com/sbso/services/disk-retention.html
