Here is how to manually add it to the array.

arraydsp -i <--- to get the array-id
arraycfg -D A3 -a <ARRAY-ID>

That will tell the Array it's ok to use the new disks. The utils are located in /opt/hparray/bin. See the man pages for more info.

-Denver</ARRAY-ID>

You can do it now. I do not think there will be performance impact when array will start balancing. I guess balancing has lower priority than user I/O
Eugeny

The Array panel says 'READY' however, there is hardly any disk activity in the new drive (A3)
It blinks green every so often but nothing like the other disks. There is definately something different about the A3 disk.

One thing I just noticed, Disk A3 is firmware HP04, whereas the rest of the disks are HP01. Not sure if that makes any difference, but wanted to point it out in case someone knew anything about issues with firmware differences.

The rebuild priority is set to 'HIGH', and autorebuild is ON, but if the disk has been previously used, i beleive you have to start a manual rebuild from the front panel of the 12H. First change the rebuild priority to low, so that you don't take a major performance hit.
