      <title>Proliant Storage System U1</title>

      <description>Just picked up a Proliant Storage System U1 with 4X18.2G drives.  Is it normal system operation that the drives do not spin up when the unit is powered on, but not attached to a server?</description>

      <description>The drives do not spin up until a signal is sent from a controller upon boot. So, yes this is normal operation.</description>
