topic va7410 warning state in Disk Enclosures

The VA's amber LED are on on controller enclosure as well as on disk enclosure and one of drives itself(JB1/D11). There is a string about media error on that drive in armlog dated three days ago, BUT armdsp shows this drive as ready. Just there is a warning:

...one or more drives has only a single path of access to it.

Questions: should I exchange the drive? Why armlog shows it as good/ready? How failure of a drive leads to losing of second path? Why SDM does not show warning state of the VA?

Thanks, Rajesh,

Port 2 are not connected to HBAs so their link is down.

The question remains: should I exchange the drive that logged media error and now has amber LED on?

Hello....

The drive probably disconnected and reconnected its self. Have you heard of the famous VA7400 has connection problems issue. Well you probably have it.

You can either have the drive replaced, but i doubt HP will do this. Remove the drive. Check if the VA starts a rebuild. If so do not plug in the drive till it is finished the rebuild. Plug in the drive after rebuild.
Watch the status and make sure rebuild completes again.

Hope this helps
