Have you tried using the HP Windows Diags?

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/19228.html

Or, if you've got the Insight agents installed, you should be able to drill down to the actual drives and check their status.

Good luck!
Seth

Can someone tell me how to identify which logical disk in an array is giving errors from the information supplied by Event Viewer in Win 2k (or any other method)

The error reads as:

The device, \Device\Scsi\Cpqarray1, did not respond within the timeout period.

The data is:

0000: 00 00 10 00 01 00 6a 00 ......j.
0008: 00 00 00 00 09 00 04 c0 .......Ã
0010: 01 01 00 50 00 00 00 00 ...P....
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0028: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0030: 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 ........

The machine is an ML530 with a Smart Array 3200.

The arrays are:

A Port1 disk ID's 0+1
B Port1 disk ID's 2+3+4+5
C Port2 disk ID's 0+1+2

Thank y

Scsi class driver posts this event when it retries an I/O. Do you see this often or only during boot up?

I don't know how to figure out the logical disk from the dump data.

Rupin

We are getting these at regular intervals, upto 250 a day mainly during the day and while backing up.

The main thing I want to know is how to narrow the fault down to which array port/LUN is giving the errors.

Regards

David
