Hi,
unfortunaly i can confirm this rate, almost a disk every two month rate ;(

But I have 84 disks.

Techs says that failures are frequent in the first two/three months, let's call it assessment...

HTH,
Massimo
Same here, and it is also occuring on the 73 GB .. a bad firmware on a batch.

In our failures though, the EVA is completely frozen -- that HP ends up rebooting each of the controllers.

The good thing is we have not had a data loss yet -- as HP-UX / VxFS does its thing very well indeed.
Translated from German it's the 'bath tub curve' (see attachment). Most devices fail at the beginning or the ending of their lifetime.

Hi,

The same thing happened at our site as well. We looked at the prospect of the "bad batch" of disks as well.

However, after many failures in the first 6 months of implementation, the failures stopped. So we did not pursue further.

One moral of the story: Even if there are multiple failures, wait for the levelling to complete. Sometimes, we had disks failing during the levelling and the levelling happened 2 or 3 times. Only after all the levelling activities stopped, disks to be changed / replaced.

Cheers
Baalki
