topic HBBA 510x - performance problem in Disk Enclosures

I have a LXr8500 with 2 x 73Gb U3 internal disks on a Netraid-4M and a HHBA 5101 (1Gbit) connected to 12 identical 73GB U3 disks in 3 RAID5 arrays.

Performance on internal disks measured at 30Mb/s write and 32Mb/sec Read. On each of the fibre arrays I am only getting 8 - 9Mb/s Write and 20 - 22Mb/s read. Adding write caching increased write speed to 11Mb/s.

Anyone have any ideas how to speed up this dismal write speed?
