Hello, Im a bit new to SCSI and i was wondering if i would be able to use this Compaq Smart Array 4200 Controller 64bit card in a PowerEdge 1300/700 in a 32bit PCI slot and will be it also be bootable or will i need to have an SCSI or IDE drive on the on-board drive controller to boot. Also will these Quantum Atlas V 9 WLS SCSI drives work connected to the Compaq Smart Array 4200 Controller. Thanks

All should be fine. You may need to check the BIOS of the book for boot order, but by default the Controllers BIOS should load and be in the boot process.<BR />You will not need another drive to boot, and the drives seem to be new enought to not be of any problem either.

Hello, thanks for the reply, i was wondering since the card is meant to operate 64bit in a 64bit slot, will the performance be as good as a 32bit card, or slightly lower since its meant for 64bit. Thanks
