A disk group on an EVA must have at least 8 disk drives. It can have up to the maximum number supported by the array: EVA3000 = 56 disk drives, EVA5000 = 240 disk drives.

The EVA3000 can have up to 7 disk groups (56/8). The EVA5000 can have up to 16 disk groups.

Hi Jesper,

It seems you would really benefit from this document. This document should give you a detailed best practices reference on the number of disk groups - pros n cons + lots of other really good design + configuration considerations for setting up your EVA array:
http://h200006.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg29448/lpg29448.pdf

Figured you are new to the forum, so perhaps I should suggest you that if you have benefitted from someone's response, consider assigning points to them:)

Regards,
