Hi Jeff,

What will happen is ID 9 (the new drive that you are going to put in inplcae of the failed one) will be available to be configured as a hotspare or as a member of a new container.

Once the rebuild is done on ID 14 it is not going to try to rebuild to ID 9 when you put a new drive in ID 9.

You can configure ID 9 as a hotspare

Regards
Amha Kassa

We had a failed drive on our HP2300 Disk System (Drive ID:09)which is controlled by a NetRaid-4M controller and it started a rebuild to the spare that we have configured(Drive ID:14). What I would like to know is when I reinsert the Drive ID:09 with a new drive will it try and start a rebuild on it too? If so how do I stop it from doing that because I would like to make ID:09 a spare as ID:14 is now part of the container.
Thanks,
Jeff
