Implementing RAID 5

Hi

I have an Compaq Proliant ML530 PIII at 1.GHZ with 2 disks (9,1GB)
I have no smart array controler.

I want to implement a RAID 5 and i've more 3 x 9,1GB disks and a smart array controller.

If i implement the RAID 5 i'll loose the data on the 2 older disks ?

Can i use de ACU for configure the array/raid ?

Hi,

What i understand from your post is that you have a total of 5 disks, and want to create a RAID 5 logical partition on 3 of the disks.

If that is the case, you will definitely loose the data on those 3 disks.

You can use the RAID configuration utility which came along with the array controller.

Hi,

No, in case you are adding 3 fresh disks, and want only those disks to be part of RAID 5 array, then you won't loose any data.
