topic RAID Expansion in Disk Enclosures

I'm trying to expand an array of 4 72GB drive by adding a fifth. I used the Compaq Array COnfig utility to add the drive but I have noticed that it has progressed to to certain percentage then goes back to zero. Any comments or ideas?

Tom Lee
International Paper

It could be either it is running into a bad part of the drive OR bad data on the current drive set. You might want to run a consistency check of the current set first. THen do a full scan of the new drive surface for defects.

Thanks for the feedback. The expansion did finally finish and I think it had a lot to do with the fact that I had SQL Server databases on this particular RAID set.
