Hi,

Currently i've an array of 3 harddisks of 36GB of RAID 05 connecting to a smart array controller. If my controller fails and i replace the controller, will my array information still be available? Will all the information such as RAID configuration and data still be available after replacement? Any HP web link i can find information regarding this document?

Many thanks!

Leonard

The new controller can pick up the existing disk configuration from the meta data that was stored on the disks by the current one.

This compatibility makes it easy to upgrade array controllers by swapping controllers, and makes it easy to migrate data from server to server by moving data drives to new controllers.
--
You can move drives to other ID positions on the same array controller. You can also move a complete array from one controller to another, even if the controllers are on different servers.
