5i RAID0+1 WHICH DISKS ?

Hi,

Smart Array 5i configured as RAID 0+1 with 4 disks.
I need to remove 2 disks for a backout plan.
and keep running on the other 2

With this type of controller, it is not possible to know from the GUI which 2 disks do not form 1 sub mirror of the 0+1 raid
so we know which 2 to remove - otherwise we may corrupt the data.

I wonder if any one came accross this ?

I will be checking if the ADU can be of any help in the meanwhile.

Farid,

I've often wondered the same thing. I would like to think that every other disk could be removed, but I suspect that it's at the discretion on the SmartArray.

I have just found that one of the offline ACU option can do the job

by splitting the RAID 0+1 to 2 RAID 0 units.
I did not know that

haven't played with it myself, yet, but it's fairly new.
