VA 7100 Software Management Patch Required

Have created Luns using the RS232 cable but have failed to get the Command view SDM working.

We are told that there is a patch available other than SDM that will allow us to view and configure the array from the Host which is running HP-UX 11.11.

If you run

# armdiscover

what do you get?
Depending of your version of OS and Commandview, probably you need some java patches.

What is your commandview version?

You should update commandview sdm to at least version 1.09.01 (www.hp.com - software & drivers - search for "commandview sdm").

BTW, the firmware should be HP22 for VA7100.

Sorry we do have that version installed now.

HP22 being the controller Firmware i take it. How do we upgrade to this?

We have followed your advise but are still not having any joy. Perhaps we should patch up the Java to see if it helps, do you know where we can find the Patch?

Please check, if the IP address is correct:

/etc/opt/sanmgr/hostagent/config/commIpAddr.txt

If not, stop the software

/opt/sanmgr/commandview/client/sbin/HA_Dial_Stop

change the value and start again

/opt/sanmgr/commandview/client/sbin/HA_Dial_Start

try

# armdiscover

Make sure, the kernel value max_thread_proc is at least around 256, default on newer versions is 3000.

# fgrep max_thread_proc /stand/system
