topic VG00 volume group on XP array? in Disk Enclosures

Has anyone found a documented/certified process of moving a server's operating system volume group, vg00, from its internal disks to disks on an XP array? I can see the advantages, but is it being done, and HOW?

You can mirror your vg00 to the XP and remove your local copy (lvreduce, vgreduce). This would "move" your vg00 from the internal disks to the XP.

If you want to do this, don't forget to write the boot path in the stable storage.
see man setboot

Frederick, this is just the same procedure for mirroring the vg00 like any other. Many documentations about this here on http://www.itrc.com and http://docs.hp.com.

You are going to mirror to a device file - the procedure is the same for internal or *any* external disk. Of course you need to check if your HBA supports boot - http://www.docs.hp.com/en/FCD-SM//en/FCD-SM/FCD-SM.htm

But take care to use the right procedure for either PA-RISC or Integrity servers - this is the only important difference.
