Hi,

Some Related questions:
1. To use this functionality I need "Raid Manager XP". So, is it the same as using The data protector feature split/mirror backup, and if yes how data protector will manage the "at-time" functionality ? (I mean will DataProtector split all the ldevs at the same time to ensure LVM consistency?).

2.How do I get a demo (temporary version) of "RaidManager", I want to test it and see fi it works for my application ?

Thanks and BR,
Farid.
Hello,

I had some disks presented from XP128 to a host which uses LVM for volume management. the LV are used for a Highly Available app (24x7), which has no mean to get to a squeezing or suspended state. So, to ensure that my business copy snapshots are consistent, do I need to unmount the file system and halt the app. and in that case, How long does the operation take?

Thanks,
Farid.

Hi Farid

This is one way, the other is putting all LDEVs belonging to this application into a BC Consistency Group.
This will allow an atomic split of all BC S-vol in the group!
See the BC admin manual for more info!
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual〈=en&cc=us&docIndexId=179111&taskId=101&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=64703

Also see my attached slide!

Cheers
XP-Pete

1. Raid Manager is the host based component that talks to the XP and through wich you can send commands to the XP like split BC etc. Raid Manager has an API that can be used from any application!
ZDB and IR talks to the XP through RAID manager

2. You can ask your local HP representative. He can organize an evaluation copy.

Cheers
XP-Pete
