Okay, so I can't go back. Can I add 2 more drives to my array or is the MSA500 limited to 9 drives? I seem to recall something about that.

I have 9 300gb drives in an raid 5 array. The array is divided into 4 logical drives, each assigned to a different server. I have 2212345mb free. This array does not have online spares and I would like to take 2 of the 9 and change them to spares. I would still have plenty of expansion room. Looking around in ACU I do not see a way to do this. Dos anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,
Jim

Unfortunately, you can only expand, not shrink.

I thought the MSA500 had 14 slots to take up disks, so you should be able to add more disks and configure them to be hot spares on the ACU for your array.

You can add only one hot spare for each array but you can share one hot spare for two or more arrays.
You need to use the same or higher size of hard drive as your hard drives on your array, for your hot spare.
