Add new disk MSA 500

Hi

I just discover in new job one MSA 500 G2 with 2 RAID 5 configured. I don't know very well this system and we need to increase storage.
How can I do to add a new raid 5 (in fact a new partition on clustered windows 2003 systems)?

Hello Dezaer,

As far as ADDING new Array on RAID 5 goes, you may Just ADD the HDDs & Create a NEW Array.

Or, If you dont want a new RAID 5, Add the HDDs to the Existing ARRAY(EXPAND ARRAY) & then increase the STORAGE(EXTEND LOGICAL Drive).
This will be FASTER if you have a BBWC for your controllers.

It's not necessary to stop the MSA or servers during insert disks (physically) and RAID creating process?
In my servers i will just see Ã new disk that could be partitionned and added as a new ressource disk in the cluster ?

Hello Again,

HOT Swap HDD can be used without having to STOP the server;

"However" since you have to Create a new RAID, you need to go into the ACU, select the HDD, create the RAID & then make logical drives.
