Are you using qlogic or emulex HBAs? If so you could use the hbanywhere/sansurfer tools to look at the lun details. Both tools should display the uuid Number of the EVA-vdisks.

regards,
bernd

Hello,

maybe someone can help answer me the following questions:

We have very dynamic (re-)presentations from 10 EVA-vdisks to one windows2003 host with RSM. We get a disk error 15 with e.g. /device/harddisk2 after unpresentig disk. So we like to identify the disk, which is not longer presented to the host (I know we need hostagent and this is not a request for troubleshooting the error, but for the following questions):

- Can we found out, which vdisk it was (maybe by an entry in Registry), and

- Does Windows 2003 allways use the same /device/harddisk-number if a disk is represented, for example /device/harddisk4, even if there are only 2 disks presented, or does Windows fills up numbering beginning up from zero.

Thanks and Regards
Rudolf

Windows 2003 using the same disk number is dependent on whether Persistent target binding is enabled using HBA utility.

Using the event log probably we could find out which drive is the one throwing the error message...

regards,
Rajiv Kulkarni

Thanks for your replay,

but the LUNs are unpresented meanwhile.

Regards
Rudolf
