Firmware update problem with Smart Array P4000

Hello,
We have a ProLiant DL380 G5 with an Smart Array P400 Controller (1.18 Firmware).
It seems that I cannot update the controller firmware with neither of the 3 Firmware Maintenance CD (8.00, 7.91, 7.80) provided from the relevant support page.
Is there another version of the firmware I must upgrade first, before I can use ones provided on the cd's?
Our second server (same specs) has updated successfully the firmware from 2.06 to the latest.

FW Maintenance CD 7.91 does contain an update for P400 SAS controller:

What error message do you get when you install this software ??

We are having the same problem in Windows. Tried updating from 1.18 to 4.12 via VC and it locked the server up. We had a test system same specs and that one worked flawlessly. Any help would be grealty appreciated. Thanks
