MSA 1000 Storage Array

I am facing one issue last weekend . My MSA1000 got disconnected from servers while it switch over from primary controller to secondry controller due to some error on primary controller .

I need to know while switch over from primary to secondry all server disconnected from array and Drives not accessible . Is it normal ? or some where it is wrong in controller ?

It would be helpful if you would mention the firmware version of your array. How about some logs?

Controller Firmware revision - 4.24 .Log are enclosed .

Send us below command output:-
1. show disks
2. show unit 1 (1,2,3 etc)
3. show globals
4. show version
5. show this_controller
6. show other_controller
7. show tech_support

This is array is not with serial cable . I am able to run only few cmds from ACU Cli utility.Attached files .

Hi Madasamy,

Ur controller Firmware Version: 4.24

I mean this is factory default firmware, so U should update latest firmware 7.0 then Ur contorller supported Redundancy Mode: "Active/Standby Asym-Active/Active"

After update firmware I think so Ur problem will be resolve.

please don't make such blank statements.

Moving from active/passive to active/active controller firmware is a deep change and most likely required updates on the switch and host infrastructure as well. Every upgrade needs careful planning and requires knowledge about the customer's current environment. It is very often not possible to upgrade the controller firmware alone and stay in a supported situation.

hi madasamy,

how do you configure the multipath from OS level?

if you are running hpux, vgextend command can be use for disk alternate pathing.

If windows, the HP native MPIO basic failover could be install and use.

Can anyone confirm this current firmware will support only active/passive , If we update to latest firmware which will support active/active this will solve this issue .

Hosts are all windows and Multipathing configured .
