We have several EVA 8000's on site, and currently everytime we get a failed battery on a HSV210 controller, we have to replace both batteries otherwise if we only replace 1. The new battery we stick in also shows as failed. Isn't there a way around this. If you were suppose to replace both batteries everytime, why don't when you order the batteries they come in pairs?

Hi,
there are 2 reasons for the the both bateries removal
a) if they both failed
to avoid the failure propagation from the bad to the new one
b) if only one fails
to resets the battery system status info on the controller.
What firmware is the EVA8000 running?
From: HP StorageWorks Cache battery replacement instructions

When running XCS 5.1xx, it is necessary to shut down the controller when replacing a battery. Contact your HP-authorized service representative for assistance when replacing a cache battery on these versions of XCS only.
