I have a smart array 5300 running on a ML 570 with the system drive Raid 1 + 0 ( slots 0 and 1) with slot 2 as a spare. Drive 0 failed making it drive 1 + 2. Drive 0 is off line. I replaced drive 0 with a new drive but it was not rebuilt. What do I dio now ?

You can try these options:

1) reseat the Drive (Spare)
2) remove the spare from the array and use it
on the location.
3) restart the server and see if the rebuild
starts.

Update the SA adapter firmware if possible. Otherwise there isn't a way to force a rebuild.
