Hi,
>20:59:06-579ca-04522- horcread():cannot open >command device:/dev/rdsk/c16t1d255s

a)it is probably because you have not changed the port wwn assignment in the XP and Solaris RAID Manager host is still mapped with the old HBA WWNs... Thus the RAID manager command device is not visible to the RAID manager host... And without the command device the RAID manager cannot operate...

b)if you use the SAN switches port zoning, then this is not an issue, but if you use the wwn zoning, the aliases should be reassigned too...

Hi all,
I changed HBA cards on my server from JNI to EMULEX which caused the device names to change. My horcm.conf file listed the devices c7txdx and c8txdx. The devices names have now change to c16txdx and c17txdx (alternate and primary). Now I am getting the following error in the logs when I try to start horcm:

*****************************************************************************
- HORCM STARTUP LOG - Sun Oct 19 20:59:05 2008
*****************************************************************************
20:59:05-95da3-04520- horcmgr started on Sun Oct 19 20:59:05 2008
20:59:05-996e7-04520- execvp() horcmd_00 using /etc/horcmgr [CWD=/]
20:59:05-afda9-04522- Fibre address conversion TBL has been set to '1'

P.P. : Raid Manager XP for Solaris
Model : Raid-Manager-XP/Solaris
Ver&Rev: 01.06.03
Release: Production

(C) Copyright 1999-2001 Hewlett-Packard Co., All Rights Reserved

HORCM(memvrts2 4522) started by root (0) on Sun Oct 19 20:59:05 2008

20:59:05-c8cbb-04522- horcmd_00 started on Sun Oct 19 20:59:05 2008
*********** SYSTEM ERROR ***********
P.P. : Raid Manager XP for Solaris
Model : Raid-Manager-XP/Solaris
Ver&Rev: 01.06.03
Release: Production

Host: memvrts2
EUserId: root (0)
Process: 4522

[System Call Error]
SysCall: open
Errorno: 2 (No such file or directory)
ErrInfo: Internal Error
ErrTime: Sun Oct 19 20:59:05 2008
SrcFile: horcpprc.c
SrcLine: 806

20:59:06-579ca-04522- horcread():cannot open command device:/dev/rdsk/c16t1d255s
2
20:59:06-65ead-04522- [WARNING] This device(/dev/rdsk/c16t1d255s2) is not ready
for receiving a command.
[System Call Error]
SysCall: open
Errorno: 2 (No such file or directory)
ErrInfo: Internal Error
ErrTime: Sun Oct 19 20:59:06 2008
SrcFile: horcpprc.c
SrcLine: 806

20:59:06-932fa-04522- horcread():cannot open command device:/dev/rdsk/c16t1d254s
2
20:59:06-9615d-04522- [WARNING] This device(/dev/rdsk/c16t1d254s2) is not ready
for receiving a command.
[System Call Error]
SysCall: open
Errorno: 2 (No such file or directory)
ErrInfo: Internal Error
ErrTime: Sun Oct 19 20:59:06 2008
SrcFile: horcpprc.c
SrcLine: 806

20:59:06-ad5db-04522- horcread():cannot open command device:/dev/rdsk/c16t1d255s
2
20:59:06-b045c-04522- [WARNING] This device(/dev/rdsk/c16t1d255s2) is not ready
for receiving a command.
[System Call Error]
SysCall: open
Errorno: 2 (No such file or directory)
ErrInfo: Internal Error
ErrTime: Sun Oct 19 20:59:06 2008
SrcFile: horcpprc.c
SrcLine: 806

20:59:06-c78ce-04522- horcread():cannot open command device:/dev/rdsk/c16t1d254s
2
20:59:06-ca767-04522- [WARNING] This device(/dev/rdsk/c16t1d254s2) is not ready
for receiving a command.
20:59:06-cd5e7-04522- No device is ready for receiving a command in 1 line from
HORC_CMD.
20:59:06-d080b-04522- ERROR:horcm_cfg_create
20:59:10-c093b-04520- horcmgr:Failed to connect to HORCM.

Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,
CatheyC
