From what I have heard - no, the MSA1500 meta-data format is incompatible.

All SmartArray controllers are equal, but some SmartArray controllers are more equal ;-)

Hi!

We currently have two disk enclosures attached to an MSA1500CS controller. One one them has a RAID5 volume configured on it which contains NTFS data.

We want to move both enclosures to an new Proliant server which has an SmartArray controller and after that remove the MSA1500cs.

Is it possible to unplug the disks from the MSA1500cs and attach them both on a SmartArray controller without loosing data?

Regards!
Joris

Hi,

This should be possible as the MSA1500 is built around SmartArray controllers...

Do you know the exact model SmartArray controller that will be in the ProLiant ?

Cheers,

Rob
