Hi,

I have a few DL380 G4s. I have 2 x 74GB in RAID 1+0 which has two partitions, C: and E:. My E: partition is running out of space and wanting to upgrade to 2 x 300GB drives.

What's the best way of upgrading the disk?

If you mean replacing the 72 GB disks by 300 GB ones, it can be done one by one. Replace one disk, let the RAID 1 rebuild, replace the other.

You will end with a disk with the same partitions but 212 GB of free space. You can use that space to expand E: (that's a Operating System task, the RAID controller does not modify the partitions).

Hi,

Thanks for the response. That's what I've been reading and tried those methods and it was failing for me. At the time I was not sure why it was not working.

But it looks like I've got two faulty drives straight out of the box.

I've done a test build with a DL380, 2 x 36GB drives RAID1+0

- Removed one of the 36GB replaced with 72GB, let it rebuild
- Removed the other 36GB, replaced with 72GB
- Wait to rebuild
- Extended the disk using ACU
- Extended E: partition using diskpart

Thanks for the reply.
