Hi,
I am installing two MSA 2012i Dual controllers. The infrastructure can be seen on the attached diagram.

The two datahosts are running Windows Server 2008 x64 Enterprise Edition.

Everything seems to work fine. I can ping all nodes from the datahosts and I can manually configure the iSCSI Initiator software to connect to the correct targets.

However, I would like to use a iSNS Server for discovering initiators and targets. I have installed the iSNS Server feature on both datahosts and added both datahosts to the iSNS server list in the initiator software. Furthermore I have added the IP of both datahosts as iSNS Servers in the SMU. Still the iSCSI Targets of the MSAs does not show up in the iSNS server. Only the initiators are visible. Can anyone help?

/Regards
Kragh

In other words...is there anything specific you should be aware off?

Both datahosts has the iSNS Server feature enabled and their IP addresses have been entered in each of the MSAs SMU. Shouldnt that be sufficient for the targets to show up in the iSNS server?

/Regards
Kragh

Hello,

Did you enable iSNS on the MSA, and enter the ip address of the iSNS server ?

You still need to configure the MSA with hosts etc, even when using iSNS.

Regards

Hi,
I found out that I needed to change the IP of the iSNS server to be on the same subnet as the targets. Rookie mistake :)
