HOWTO: Internal RAID Manager

hi all, currently i try to configure RAID 5 in my server using IRM... but whenever i try to view configuration or create new configuration... it give me a warning " no logical drives are currently configure".. what does it mean?

can IRM be used when the server had data in it?... or it should be used after do the fresh installations?...

The HP A5856A RAID 4Si PCI 4-Channel
Ultra2 SCSI Controller
Installation and Administration Guide is very straightforward, very simple... but it does not provide any problem might occur and how to troubleshoot it...

So did you configure those logical drives?
How big?
How many physical drives?

i had go through all the documentation/guide that you provide... currently im in the ignite-ux, "welcome screen" to setup new hp-ux installation, i can see the RAID controller... and now im in the middle of the process... the problem is, i cant move the selection... can't choose the disk/drive... can't configure the logical drive... even if i press the arrow button or h,j,k,l button... still can't choose the disk... is it there is a problem with the RAID controller card?... or my physical disk?

there are 4 physical disk in the hpux..

That's good.

Your text indicated LOWERCASE. Is that what you used? The manual suggests UPPERCASE (H,J,K,L) as alternatives for the arrows if those don't map to the desired sequences.
That would correspond with the requirements to SHIFT number keys as alternatives to function keys.
Could yo navigate the menus?
Use ENTER to select?

I have not played with this tool, hopefully someone with hands-on experience will pick up this thread and help you further.

I had try to boot from the CD, go to the advance mode, select the adapter/controller but whenever in the irm, i still can't select/map the the drive..

is there any patch that i have to installed first?.
