Autopath was the pmHP term for their suite of multipathing software. SecurePath was the name of the multipathing software for pmCompaq. After the merger, all the multipathing software was branded under the SecurePath name. It is similiar to what happened to the "SureStore E" brand (remember that?), so now all HP storage products are branded under the "StorageWorks" moniker.

"Under the hood", Autopath is used for A/A arrays (XP, VA, EVA 4/6/8x00 series), and the older (EVA3/5 series) were A/P, so the software was different. If you get a CD, it will ask you what type of array you have before intalling the software on your host. In most cases, both software version can be on the same server, but check SPOCK before doing so.

Cheers,

Curt

securepath handles multipathing for active/passive arrays (i.e. EVA 5000) while autopath handles active/active arrays (i.e. EVA6000)
