I'm a freind of Rich Reiser from ucdmed, I work at HP in the Response Center. VXVM is not supported at 11.00 by HP. I wouldn't spend time really trying to run vxvm at 11.00. If possible move to HPUX11i and the latest patched vxvm i.e. vxvm3.1 with the JFS3.3.

Regards,
Curtis
HP Response Center Engineer

Jonathan,

I ran into this problem with a client some about a year ago. I was told that there was an incompatability between the FC60 firmware and the Veritas DMP. The end result was using the HP-UX Logical Volume Manager ONLY and completely removing the Veritas Volume Manager. This issue is only on the FC60 as is caused by a conflict between the FC60 controller and the DMP agent. The DMP agent tends to pull all LUNS to one controller hence making the redundant paths created with LVM invalid. You can manually perform the same function by using vgreduce and vgextend on the primary/alternate paths in order to utilize both controllers. However, you will need to remove the Veritas Volume Manager first.

Hope this helps,

Dave
