Hi all,
we have a EVA 4400 with 8 Enclosures since a
year and a new EVA 8400 with 9 Enclosures.
I noticed that the Enclosure cabling of the 4400 differs from the 8400. I´m wondering why
the cabling of the 8400 is not the same then
4400 ? At 4400 Loop A and Loop B goes from Controller 1 to the first enclosure an from the last enclosure back to controller 2.
At 8400 Loop A is the same but Loop B goes from crontoller 1 to the last enclosure in rack and from the first enclosure back to controller 2....
Thanks !

Thanks Uwe for the reply.
I checked the EVA 4400 Installation Guide.
The installation guide descripes the cabling exactly in that way as our EVA 44 was cabled.. (see Attachment).
I´m a little bit confused....
Then, your description (Loop A and Loop B goes from Controller 1 to the first enclosure) is incorrect ;-)

Ooops! I`m really sorry. Yes my description was wrong. OK, our 44 cabling is the same way like Installation Guide shows but our 8400 cabling is differnt. See attachet picture. (Picture shows only Loop 1. 2 and 3 are cabled the same way) Is this correct or wrong or just a differnt way ?
Thanks !

Many thanks for the replys !
A last question:
The 8400 is working fine with this cabling.
Could we get any problems with this cabling ? (Performance or Redundancy)
Thanks !

Redundancy.
And it could be a fine exit-reason for support as the array does not conform to the vendor's specification.

Have a look at the picture you attached earlier and imagine what happens if the lower controller and the lower enclosure fails.

The upper controller has no access to the remaining 2 enclosures! With 9 enclosures this is a real issue.
