Even the "upgrade" will uninstall the earlier version first.

So uninstall it, reboot and install the new version 9.3.

Hello,

I am using Command View EVA 8.02 to manage an EVA5000, 8000 and 8100. I would like to upgrade to CV 9.3. As this is not a supported upgrade, my options are either to uninstall 8.02 and install 9.3 or upgrade 8.02 to 9.2 and then from 9.2 to 9.3. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether one of these routes would be more desirable.

Thanks!

BTW, I remember the "patch" version 6.2.1 (IIRC): The version 6.2 must be installed before 6.2.1 could be installed. But in fact the system did an uninstall of 6.2 and installed 6.2.1. So if you did a new installation, you did install 6.2, the system did an uninstall and then install 6.2.1 - great!

I hope this will not happen again ...

Agree with Torsten, we performed upgrade from 9.2.1 to 9.3 - it was uninstalled automatically byt 9.3 installer, server rebooted and continued after boot, no problem yet, some nice graphical improvments detected... :)

Jan

I have a question to follow up on that. My company has an EVA4100, and I tested the upgrade of CommandView 10 in place of 9.01 on its Management Server. We currently use an EVA6100 and another management server to manage it. This is a production environment SAN, and it is functioning correctly. After the upgrade on the old management server CommandView software, I had to un-initiate it from our newer EVA CommandView console to add it to the new CommandView.

My question: After this installation of CommandView 10 on the new SAN server, and reboot of the EVA6100 server, when I attempt to log back in to the new CommandView, will all of my connections, drives, LUNS, etc be affected in any way? Or is this a pretty seamless process?

Thanks!

Chris

Yes, upgrading command view will not affect existing lun/disk/connections etc.
