No article but common sense.

The amount of time it takes to level as a result of remoing/adding disks in a diskgroup is directly proprtional to the number of disks in a diskgroup and of course the size of the disks.

1TB FATA drive removal/addition in a 240 disk DG will take days. On a 120 disk DG in an EVA8000 with 450GB FATA drives - it averages our array 4 days.

HI,
We have an EVA with a diskgroup consisting of 1TB fata drives. We expanded the disk groups with more drives and the leveling took ages... Are there any articles describing how to calculate how long time leveling takes depending on type and number of disk drives etc?

-inex

Hi,

There is no specific guide for levelling time. Its fully depend on the utilization of the Disks on that DG and how much data to be levelled.

Yes with 1 TB(As it is FATA) will take lot of time.

If we lets say expand with 5 drives, leveling takes about a week. And new space is not available before 1-2 days

That will be true. But space sometiems would be incresingly available as leveling progresses.
