topic Clearing Dead Paths using Powerpath on HP 11i Server in Disk Enclosures

Fellow Admins:

Just wanted to run it past you all - to check if I am doing it right. I see some dead paths on running powerpath. None of these dead paths are in my /etc/lvmtab file. I am unable to clear them with "powermt check". (I am trying to avoid a reboot - but if that is the only way out then I will have to work on that.) Any inputs from your end to clear these paths without a reboot would be most appreciated.

I ran these commands in this sequence:
# ioscan -fn
# insf
# powermt config
# powermt display dev=all

# powermt remove force dev=c47t3d1
Cannot remove device that is in use: c47t3d1
# powermt remove force dev=c55t4d2
# powermt remove force dev=c57t4d2

(root):/etc:# powermt check
Warning: Symmetrix device path c55t4d2 is currently dead.
Do you want to remove it (y/n/a/q)? y
Warning: Symmetrix device path c57t4d2 is currently dead.
Do you want to remove it (y/n/a/q)? y
Warning: CLARiiON device path c47t3d1 is currently dead.
Do you want to remove it (y/n/a/q)? y
Cannot remove device that is in use: c47t3d1
