POST error 1784: Drive Array Drive Failure

Hello to everyone.

A strange problem from some days on a Proliant DL380G4 with:
- SmartArray 6i controller with battery
- 2 SCSI HDD 36,4GB in RAID 1 array
- 4 SCSI HDD 300GB in 4 arrays

During the day one or two disks, randomly, fail with the error 1784.
I restart the server and all returns normal for one day: then another failure, etc.

After the restart in the ACU all it's well.

Is it the battery? (but the ACU says it's good)

Any ideas?

Hi,

For a 1784 error its either defective drive or SCSI cables.

Make sure all cables are connected properly and securely.
Make sure all drives are fully seated.
Replace defective cables, drive X, or both.

In some scenarios it could be that Cache Module is faulty.

I have already replaced all the HDD, but the problem is random: one time the disk 2, another time the disk 5,...

Now I check the cables.

Do you exclude the battery of the controller?

Are those Hot-plug drives?

It could be the backplane in the drive cage that's flakey.
