HDD failure in MSA30

Hello,

our customer has an rp3440 (HPUX 11i v2)connected to MSA30 storage.
I have already configured (using saconfig)
3 x 72GB HDDs ar Raid 5 and one spare disk.
Now , one disk had failed and the spare disk is now active.
What are the steps which should be done after replacing the damaged disk.

Hi,

AFAIK after you replaced the faulty disk the new drive will be syncronized automatically and the hot spare will get back to a spare status. All this will be done automatically, you don't need to do anything. Be sure to replace the disk online without turning the system off, otherwise the system wouldn't know what happened with the disk.

"raid5" an "saconfig" suggest you are using a smartarray controller.

So you only need to swap the disk and check with saconfig/sautil again.
