DS2405 - disks sizes all wrong.

Hi all,

Another strange one. DS2405 connected single path (JBOD) to RP5670 server. We lost a drive in the server and replaced with a spare on site (HPPN: A6194â 60001) and although ioscan picked it up and all was well, we could not pvcreate the disk. There were no errors on HPUX until I ran STM. Here is the wierd bit - the block size is 520 bytes vs the 512 bytes for ALL the other drives.

Now. Bad drive right? Thus we ordered another 3 x A6194A drives. Same problem? Oh yes - No matter what slot we use, etc. we have shutdown, we have switched off we have tried everything - INCLUDING replacing the DS2405 chassis and BCC's.

ioscan - the new drives are at the end - ALL DRIVES IN THE ARRAY have the same FW - HP03.... note that there is ONE different Seagate PN - so thats not it either.

These disks must originally have been for a VA (which uses diffferent block size). See the other post for instructions on how to sort it...

Thanks a stack - thread closed.

Wierd that I could not find that thread - I searched long and hard for this - I normally post as a last resort.

Perhaps there was a problem with the search on the forums? I really tried all iterations and *should* have found all those threads.
