We have EVA4000 2C1D Array, with a pair of HSV200 controllers, one M5314A disk drive enclosure.
It is completely loaded and working in a production environment.
We have got a new Disk Enclosure (14disks)and we wish to add it to existing configuration.
Whether a question it is possible to add a new Disk Enclosure (14disks)not disconnecting EVA (shtudown array), and on how many it risky to add Disk Enclosure on powered EVA4000

It is possible to do, but generally it would be better to take some downtime, especially if your EVA is racked...

42-
41-
.
.
.
8- free space from here up
7- 2U Controller B
6- 2U Controller B
5- 2U Controller A
4- 2U Controller A
3- 3U Disk Shelf
2- 3U Disk Shelf
1- 3U Disk Shelf

If you plan on upgrading to more disk shelves later on, you may want to move the controllers up to U7-10 and/or if you think you might upgrade to a 6000, move them up to U14-17.

Eitherway, always hae a backup of all your data.

Steven

None? Single? or Double?
Occupancy is the amount of storage space you have allocated to your hosts.

On the upgraded EVA, if you did not create or expand any virtual disks yet, then you should have the occupancy that you had beforethe upgrade.

As for why you lost 500GB, I am unsure.

Steven
