Looking for a manual or "how to info" on adding a second controller to a VA7100, which is connected to a RP5470 Unix Server. Thanks.

Do you have the "single controller" version?

Just add the second. From now on it depends if the array is direct connected or over a switch. You need to add the alternate pathes to your config from the server point of view.

Yes, it is currently the single controller version on the VA7100. And the VA is directly attached to the RP5470.

I'm assuming that once the second controller is in place, unix will install the necessary device files. From then, I would have to do a vgextend - to configure the new device file to the existing volume group?

AFAIK te firmware was designed for dual controllers and adjusted to accept sinle controller configs. So you insert the second, connect the cables and run "insf -e". Extend the VG(s) with vgextend and you will have an alternate path(es) to your VG(s).
