What is this battery and what could be the problem ?

The battery saves the write cach when a system goes down.
(power loss)

They are in the controllers.

You should change them, and if you already have, reset the timer.

Call HP to get new batteries or on power fail you will loose active write cache and end up with corrupted filesystems.. or perhaps perf will just go way down because the array won't let you cache any more........

Later,
Bill
as noted by the link..
It can happen on power up too.

If the array was switched off for a long time (the weekend) it may have been using battery power to protect SIMM content.

Thus, on power up needed to be recharged.

Issue an

amdsp -i

get the serial no

amdsp -a serno

will report the battery status.

Later,
Bill
