      <description>Hi All,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;One of the disks in a C2300 Disk Array has gone bad. This Array is connected to 2 K-class servers running HPUX 11.00.       <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There are totaly four LUNS configured ..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;LUN0(16.8gb)-(Raid5) 5 x 4.2 GB Disks&lt;BR /&gt;LUN1(12.6gb)-(Raid5) 4 x 4.2 GB Disks&lt;BR /&gt;LUN2(16.8gb)-(Raid5) 5 x 4.2 GB Disks&lt;BR /&gt;LUN3(16.8gb)-(Raid5) 5 x 4.2 GB Disks&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Total 19 disks in the whole array.&lt;BR /&gt;Now this LUN2.. shown below indicates a "?" for the 5th Disk.. which needs to be replaced..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2 A/A * R/- Off RAID-5 C2300WDR5 16.8gb 512&lt;BR /&gt;A0 /A0 IBM DCHS04F CLAR04 4.2gb&lt;BR /&gt;B0 /B0 IBM DCHS04F CLAR04 4.2gb&lt;BR /&gt;C0 /C0 IBM DCHS04F CLAR04 4.2gb&lt;BR /&gt;D0 /D0 IBM DCHS04F CLAR04 4.2gb&lt;BR /&gt;E0 /?       <description>Can you attach the first output again?&lt;BR /&gt;I can't read it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Normally you should only swap the disk - that's it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For more info search the forum for "nike disk array".</description>

      <description>The "?" indicates a bad drive.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The column header Fru/BS means Disk FRU/FRU-bind-slot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you replace the disk, the rebuild will start automatically.</description>

      <description>Ok .. &lt;BR /&gt;This disk is a 4.2 GB SE-SCSI .. which means not hotswappable .. so i have to poweroff before replacing it ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SO to replace the drive .. i need to ..&lt;BR /&gt;1) shutdown the server ..&lt;BR /&gt;2) poweroff the Array&lt;BR /&gt;3) Then replace the DIsk.&lt;BR /&gt;4) Poweron the Array.. ( It should automaticaly start rebuilding the Raid5 Lun ..)&lt;BR /&gt;5) poweron the server ..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Does this step look Good ?</description>

      <description>So ..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You mean to say .. we can "Hot Swap" the disk while the Array &amp;amp; Server are UP &amp;amp; running ... &lt;BR /&gt;Iam little confused .. because when i searched the disk model - DCHS04F  ..in sites .. it shows as a Single ended 50 pin Drive .. which i think is not hot swappable ..</description>

      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Just pull out the bad disk, will probably have a amber led on the bad drive, and replace it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It should just start the rebuild automatically, unless drastic configuration changes have been implemented.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It will take a while for it to present itself back as normal to HPUX. If you want to see whats happening with the array, while its rebuiding and check the config then attach a console directly to the serial port on the back of the array. You will be able to view the grid manager software here.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As for the disks they are all single ended scsi disk in the disk caddies. someone has previously swapped one without the clarion firmware as well. but its fine.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Andy</description>
