The disk in slot one of our va7110 has been accumulating errors and is now up to 238. There is a replacement disk on the way but I want to make sure that I understand the process before I start.

1) using the command view interface I want to "down" the disk. This should start unloading any information out to the other disks.

2) when completed, remove old, and insert replacement.

3) sit back and wait as "Auto Format" and "Auto Include" are both enabled.

Thanks for all hasty replies.
User dont have to worry about recovering data from a faulty Disk. EVA firmware will take care about.

Of course any data in a Vraid0 (of the particular Disk group) vdisk will be lost.

Below is the procedure.
1) check the status of the disk in Comamnd View EVA. Ensure that its failed
2) Command View EVA go to system option and select H/W additional policy and set it to manual.
3) identify the disk and replace it
4) check the status in CVEVA and ensure that its good
5) Group the disk to respective Disk Group. (by default it will be part of ungrouped disks).

Refer the below link
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=254838&prodTypeId=12169&objectID=c
01625301
Johnson,

I don't fully understand your reply. First the drive is not fully down. Second my interface says "Command View SDM" to the part about EVA looses me.

I'm trying to replace a drive before it goes out.
